This year again, here is a rough breakdown of my 2001 budget followed by detailed transport costs and a list of paid lodgings I used. In 2001 I travelled 16 170 kilometres to visit 25 countries or territories in 119 days at a total cost of 7 750 $US (63 $/day). |

On this trip, I spent 113 nights in 31 different hotels at an
overall average cost of 15.00 $US (not counting the 6 nights passed in the homes
of friends or in transit transport). My accommodation expenses averaged 16.50
$US in Cuba, 20.70 $US in the Caribbean Islands and 7.60 $US in Central America.

An equal sign means an average value for a given price compared to other lodgings in the same country.
